This is 'Loose Joints', a two person exhibition with Dylan Beckman at the Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston, SC.  Dylan is a Professor at the College of Charleston. We had the show following a two month Lightning Residency together that we were selected to develop new work about architectural vernacular of the American South.
My work consisted of linocut prints & sculptural photographic objects. The show explores ways vernacular architecture is the formal mechanism from which we discover the rhythms of our daily lives, but also how over time these memories fade into vestiges of reverie, recovery, and cultural reinvention.
It was amazing having a studio within walking distance of my home along Charleston's historic King Street where I lived for 2 years in the North Central District in the most diverse, thriving, and culturally rich communities on the peninsula.
The whole experience left me with a more nuanced view of the connection between place & permanence, image & object, and gave me deeper understanding for my immense fascination with ways our memories are forever embedded in the physical properties of the places we inhabit.
